Barge
Go!
I recommend making a reservation and traveling up to 15 minutes out of your way for it.
Many of the Michelin star restaurants I have been to are a bit pretentious and sometimes it feels like if you laugh too loudly you will get a glare from other patrons, or worse from the staff. Barge did not have this feel at all. Instead it was a welcoming, comfortable space with jolly staff and customers wearing anything from smart casual to formal attire. The neighborhood was not the nicest but it still felt safe.

The aperitif I started with was the house drink, they strangely seemed a bit surprised I asked for it but once it came out was light and refreshing, exactly what was needed to start the night!

The first bites were tasty with variety of textures and flavors in each tiny bite.

Some of the middle courses were excellent, others just ok, the zucchini salad in particular had a topping was clearly unintentionally still a bit frozen in the middle which rather ruined the dish for me.

The miso butter was to die for. It might be the best butter I have had and I definitely clogged the old arteries a bit by finishing every bit they gave me on my bread... should I have asked for more?

I also splurged for the extra course which was totally worth it. In this case it was lobster, which I do not normally care for, but the creamy topping made a very enjoyable experience.

The main was lamb prepared four different ways and it was fun to try and compare them.

Desert is never my favorite and at this point I was quite full but the main desert was quite lite and not too sweet. The final sweet bites were good with a mix of different flavors.
The wine paring throughout the meal was great. It was not pretentious at all, the sommelier was informative, everything matched well and it certainly enhanced the overall experience.
I usually stay at Cardo Brussels Autograph collection when I go to Brussels for Tomorrowland music festival. The hotel is just outside walking in your dress up clothes distance but I would still definitely consider stopping in next time I am in Brussels! Thanks Barge for a great time.
